CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management)


This qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities.

At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new business opportunities.

Entry Requirements

To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, prospective students need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at a Diploma level, this can be demonstrated via the following:

  • Pre-training review to ensure student has the appropriate level of Language Literacy and Numeracy to achieve the competencies. Where a test result is supplied, it must be within the last 12 months.

  • Basic computer skills.

Additional Requirements

  • To gain this qualification, successful completion of a practical placement is required.

    • To participate in the placement, students are required to produce a satisfactory Victoria Police Records Check and Working with Children Check.

+ Delivery

This course is delivered face to face in a classroom environment with a combination of interactive workshops in the classroom with opportunities to participate in practical application of skills and knowledge through, practical industry based simulated training activities and workplace participation.

  • Estimated duration of 52 tuition weeks allowing sufficient time to develop the necessary skills and knowledge in each unit.

  • 200 hours work placement in a suitable workplace e.g. community service organisation.

+ Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

All prospective students enrolling in the course are entitled to apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) or credit transfer.
