HLTSS00064 Infection Control Skill Set

Stirling Institute of Australia has been approved to deliver the HLTSS00064 Infection Control Skill Set to health care workers which include the Aged Care, Allied Health and Disability Sectors. This skill set consists of the unit HLTINF001 Comply with infection control policies and procedures. You will learn:

  • standard and advanced precautions for infection control prevention and control

  • how to identify infection hazards and assess risks

  • procedures for managing risk

This is a nationally recognised Skill Set, fully funded by the Victorian government for key workers.

 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE SKILL SETS? 

A person can participate if they: 

  • are currently employed in Victoria

  • have not previously completed the individual Skill Set they are seeking to enrol in, or any of the other Infection Control Skill Sets.

  • No upskilling requirements need to be met

Note: Any health care worker is eligible if they are employed (work or volunteer in Australia), irrespective of their citizenship or residency status.

 

HOW IS IT GOING TO BE DELIVERED THROUGH STIRLING INSTITUTE OF AUSTRALIA:

  • 1 Day Online (approximately 8 hours) at the students own pace

  • 1 Day Virtual Classroom (via Zoom 9.00 am – 5.00 pm) – this session will run fortnightly

  • 1 Day (8 hours) of applying their learning in their work place.

RESOURCES REQUIRED:

  • Part of the course is delivered through the Zoom/LMS learning platform.

  • You will be required to have Internet access to successfully complete this course.

  • Please ensure your computer is a Mac OS 10.11 or later version or Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.

  • You will also need a headset with microphone, speakers and camera (for virtual classes via Zoom).

WHAT ASSESSMENTS ARE INVOLVED:

  • ASSESSMENT TASK 1 – Questions (total of 29 questions). This will be done by the participant using the allocated online hours.

  • ASSESSMENT TASK 2 – Case Study (total of 2 case studies). This assessment will be conducted in class with the support of the Trainer/Assessor. Time frame :

  • ASSESSMENT TASK 3 – Practical Activity. This will be done during placement either observed by SIA Assessor or students will be required to record the performance in line with the provided 3 checklists and email the video (approximately 15 minutes long) to their relevant trainer for assessment.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE COURSE:
